MagicJack App error “Your device is not on this account” – SOLVED
I spent almost 3 days in solving this issue [including weekend 😦 ] and at last I triumph.

I was using a free MJ service (where you do not have your own call back number) and then I bought 1 yr. subscription. When I tried to sign-in with my new subscribed email id, it error-ed; “Email id is not recognized on this device”.
After basic research, I understood that MJ app does not allow you to sign-in, with a new email id, on the same device on which you have already signed-in in the past. No matter how many times you re-install the app, still it will flash the same error. This error can flash in any of the below 3 cases:
In MJ app if in case:
You are using a free MJ service
OR
Registered with another email id previously on the same mobile device
OR
You bought a second-hand device from the one who was using MJ app
I spent (rather say wasted) 2 days in researching online for the solution. All I got is a bunch of complaining people (I hate when they post the same problem in comments). Even live chat with MJ people didn’t help me.
I found a solution which was too much of technicalities (also posted below in Solution 2) and not an easy one for my technical layman folks.
At last, I thought of giving another try to live chat and it worked this time. So here goes two solutions:
Solution 1
Remove the registered mobile device from your MJ account (the simplest way I found):
Prerequisite: Old email id through which you used to sign-in in MJ app
I haven’t figured out how to remove it yourself (I don’t think you can) so to use this method, you have to approach MJ live chat (http://tinyurl.com/75xywsh)
Keep your chat short & simple and don’t flourish them with unnecessary details.
Once you are on live chat, your chat will probably glide as:
**Chat begins
Agent: flowery words How may I help you. flowery words (She is sweetly asking you to start blabbering your problem)
You: When I try to sign-in, it shows me error – “Email id is not recognized on this device”
A: will say some more flowery sentence like “we are happy to help” and bla bla.
Did you buy this device from someone?
Y: Yes
In case if she doesn’t ask you this question, you tell her that you bought this device second hand.
A: May I have the email id or phone number which was previously registered?
Y: Don’t get excited and furnish them all the details. Say
I will try to get that but I am not sure to get that because the person from whom I bought this phone is not known to me. Just give me a moment and I will try to get that.
After few minutes just give them email id and say that getting phone number is not possible and ask them to fetch required data from email id itself. Pretend that it was really difficult for you to get even this email id.
A: Please provide me MAC address of your device. It will be something like 00:00:00:00:X0:0X

SA: Please uninstall MJ app from your device, restart your phone and re-install it. You will be able to sign-in with your new email id.
Do that but do not end the chat unless you re-install the app and successfully sign-in.

Solution 2
Completely remove MJ app from iPhone
Well in order to remove an app and all the settings you have to perform following things.
- Delete the app from your iPhone.
- Remove the app from the iTunes. As it supposed to prompted you have to move all the app from the Trash.
- Now empty Trash and after that sync your phone.
Solution 3:
Erase all Content and Settings on iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tab General.
- Scroll all the way down and tap Reset.
- Select Erase All Content and Settings.
Once it is done, install MJ app from App Store and enjoy using MJ service again

i just told them that i have a new mj account with my new job and it won’t let me use the iphone app because i used my iphone with my old job’s account, gave them the old email and they removed it for me.then restarted iphone and did the log in part again with no problem at all. didn’t take more than 5 minutes.
My password is not much to my email plus help me out

I have mj on iphone 6 but I cant seem to get it on my android seeing how I updated my phone to S7 but to android, but it wont let me use it on android. I deleted it off Iphone and itunes? I have the same number just different phones? But I paid for MJ and love the service. how do I get to use it on my android instead of iphone?
You can directly login to your MJ account (If it is paid and you have subscribed to their paid services) into 5 devices at a time.
If you are unable to login to your new device, that means you have already logged into 5 devices.
In this case you can login to your MJ account (Using this link: http://my.magicjack.com/ ) and under devices tab you can delete the unwanted devices.
Once you are done with the above procedure you will be able to login in your new device.
I cannot delete the previously activated device under my account.

1. You should have an idea that “Erase all Content and Settings on iPhone” erases all content/data from your phone. Hence, you should have backed-up your data before doing this.
2. Sol.n 3 worked well for many other users. Please let us know iOS version to help you better.

Thank you Ishit Bhatt! I followed your URL, connected to chat and simply said I am switching from iphone to android, please remove my iphone’s from my account. Then I downloaded the app on my new android and logged in. It worked! It took less than 5 mins after spending a couple frustrating hours trying it other ways.

Hello dear, your post really helped me. when I try to log in, it said :An active magicjack device subscription is required to use the magicapp. If you have recently ordered a magicjack device, please register the device and try again. What does that suppose to mean?
